Our Story
Hi! I am Donny Stiver, together with my wife Melissa and our two young sons, we own and operate Stiver’s Backyard & Leisure here in Colorado Springs, CO. Stiver’s Backyard & Leisure really started out about 23 years ago as a young mans pipe dream of going into business for himself but not knowing what he wanted to do. Melissa and I started dating in high school and even way back then we were actively trying to find ways to help others and knew that we wanted to be able to help for the long run. Both Melissa and I were continually active in volunteering with our Church and other organizations all the way through college and into our young adult lives. Truth be told, at the time I was really focused on going into law enforcement and thought that was going to be the way I would be able to help and support not only our community but Melissa and our future family. Long story short, that was just not the direction that the Lord had for our lives.

Floundering a bit from job to job as a young man trying to find his way in the world, I found myself a few years later employed by Idler’s Home in Paso Robles, CA. It was there that I truly found my calling when they asked if I would like to take on the rebuilding/rebranding of their Outdoor Living Department. Over the following number of years, I was able to dive into and develop a major passion for all things “Backyard”, especially hot tubs. I found that I was really able to help families and individuals heal, recuperate and reconnect with each other! I had found an industry that would allow us to really impact the lives of our community, friends and family. This dream of being able to help especially came into being when we brought Marquis Spas into the mix as they share remarkably similar values to myself, my wife and our company through their sponsorship and collaboration with Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Fast forward a few more years. Both Melissa and I individually started getting the idea that the Lord had something big in store for us. And we both felt that the catalyst for this “big thing” would be our passion for helping family’s come together and connect in their own backyard’s. That is when “Stiver’s Backyard & Leisure” was born. Melissa and I started looking at and praying over many different communities all over the nation. From Phoenix to Houston, Nashville to Idaho Falls and all points in between. At the end of all that searching, we kept circling back to Colorado Springs. The town, the people, the community not to mention the beautiful landscape surrounding it all, we knew we were home in Colorado Springs all along. We are so very honored and excited to share our passion to help others in this community and our very proud to offer the highest rated spa line in the industry with Marquis and the most well-known and innovative pellet grills in the industry with Traeger.
